how well is this territory being covered?.
how many on here (active jws excluded) received an invitation?.
I got 2,one of my Mum,who still sends me the mags, which I do read occasionally. She's cool with the fact that I don't go anymore, and we still have a wonderful relationship.
However, last weekend here in Wales it was a grand hot day and I was sitting naked in the garden catching the rays, when the local witnesses drove in. After donning shorts I had handy They left me with an invite. But I'm sure the sisters in the car got an eyeful, but who cares. Shall I turn up at the memorial naked as well?? he he.
i saw them in the distance going door to door , (about 6 of them plus child in pushchair ) i knew i had to walk past them but started panicking !
i was thinking please dont speak to me or i will explain why im not interested in your religion , i left my town to get away from them !
due to my daughters sexual abuse by a ex min servant who had abused others in the congregation also but had never been reported !
I agree Can't leave, I see the bruvs on the street and I think ....I'm never going to do that again!!! But it's not panic,it's more of a nervousness that I used to get when tramping the streets.
i don't know whether this has ever been asked, so i apologize if i'm repeating.. what did you do at the last meeting you ever attended?
did you stay for the whole thing?
what made you realize that this was your last meeting, or did you not know it would be your last meeting??.
Mine was a district convention....I hadn't been going regularly for a few months up till then, and only really went as my Mum and some friends were there. But,half way through the afternoon session I just knew I didn't belong in there.
My Mum is still a witness but she has accepted that I no longer go to meetings...and she still loves me which I'm glad of.
we've all known those fanatical witnesses who are guilty of pdf (public display of faith) and always have to make a big song and dance to the whole world and let everyone and their dog know they're a faithful witness of jay hoover!.
1) when my mother first came in 'da troooof' this wacky, over zealous 'sister' was studying with her - you know the type.
this woman was one of those not so subtle individuals who would always talk loud in conversation and say the name jehovah a million times even when the conversation could have been about basketball.
2)This 'brother' who used to take our group insisted we all meet RIGHT IN FRONT of Greggs Bakery for afternoon service! Of all the places we could have met, this fool was so sure that a bunch of people dressed in their monkey suits holding litter-ature standing outside a bakery on a main road was going to give a 'fine witness'. WTF?!
Did you not get a meal deal while you were there?????
be creative.
have some fun.

I am,and always will be...............Billy Sugger.
i know there's a lot of threads out there like this but i am currently trying to build my music library so far i have a pretty good list of songs that i can listen all the way thru but i only have like 60 songs.
so i want to see other peoples songs that they could listen to over and over without getting tired of them.
i want to see if there are any songs that other people really like that i might want to add on to my list.
Whats an MP3 player etc?? Any way songs I can't do without either on CD or vinyl are. -
Although Simple man by Shinedown is a great version,I'd go for the original by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Lazy by Deep Purple
Sometimes I feel like Screaming by Deep Purple
Rock Bottom and Love to Love by UFO
Anything by Francis Dunnery but especially the Fearless album, just superb.
Hurt by Johnny Cash.
A Better Man by Thunder
Going to California by Led Zeppelin
The Bluest Blues by Alvin Lee.....which has just the best guitar solo ever in it!!
Most Pink Floyd
Most Genesis
Celebration by PFM
And many more!!!!
this thread is apropos nothing in particular, except to ask, does modern life get you down too ?.
for those not familiar with mr meldrew, he is from a british sit-com and is a senior citizen who gripes and complains a lot .
there is a lot more to the sit-com than that, it is quite brilliant, but that is the pertinent point.. i went on national rail's site on thursday night to ask two simple questions, what time is the first train to london from my local station around 9am, and how much were they going to sting me for a ticket.. the site was worse than useless, no way could you get an answer to simple questions like that.. at one point it asked me if i would like to take part in a customer survey, so i did, i raved and ranted and insulted all through this survey, then it asked me my gender, then my age, at this point i paused before clicking "next", i could just see in my mind the next question:.
Just about everything......I'm a proper grumpy oldish man.
The automated phone system....why can't we speak to a human instead of pressing buttons, getting passed from one to another, then getting cut off.
No decent rock on the radio.
slow computers, even though they are supposed to be getting faster.
Miles and miles of traffic cones and not a worker in sight.
impolite and ignorant people who don't know how to say please or thank you.
.......etc etc........
Hey Black Sheep....thanks for posting Shuggie Otis.....brilliant stuff. I hadn't heard of him before, but must investigate further now.
As for my kind music.........UFO,Thunder,Joe Bonamassa,Deep Purple,Lynyrd Skynyrd.......................................etc etc.
